the process of art

Let ideas come first. The viewer sees only the end product -- painting, writing -- not the process which was employed to arrive there. If no conscious ideas are available, try a simple circle... ...try a random line. Make choices based on visual and emotional needs and prior knowledge. One small aspect of the current work can become an entirely new piece of work and may suggest another direction. Take time, observe, stay open to changes and ideas Where do Ideas Come From? Almost anywhere. Sensations, dreams, experiences, shadows, impressions, feelings, actual events or objects, stories, studies, names... Don't rule out anything. Creating this "form" for the idea is a process of visual thinking, trying, waiting, changing, doing, rejecting, adding, waiting again, accepting, feeling excitement, redoing, finishing and feeling resolved.

To be an artist..

To be an artist is to live and feel and then to express. To see things in everyday life that you usually don't see. This is important for all of us to do as much as possible everyday of our lives. Perhaps mental inactivity is the most fatiguing thing in the world. That is why it is a common thing for a businessman to die soon after he retires. This is if they do not take up some new and stimulating enterprise. This may be the reason why so many artists have lived to such an old age.

the purpose of art

When an artist creates a painting it is not to make a picture; (a picture is just the final result) the purpose is to create a feeling or mood. Usually more than an ordinary moment in life, usually stirring some kind of emotion that the artist feels and hopefully the viewer will feel. This is the purpose and beauty of Art, all forms of Art.

what is art?

The first, broadest sense of "art" is the one that has stayed closest to the older Latin meaning, which roughly translates to "skill" or "craft", and also from an Indo-European root meaning "arrangement" or "to arrange".

The use of skill and imagination in the creation of aesthetic objects, environments, or experiences that can be shared with others. The modern use of the word "art", which rose to prominence after 1750, is commonly understood to be skill used to produce an aesthetic result
